About the Artist
Gregory Didyoung is a Reading native and Kutztown University Alum. He was previously employed as a photojournalist for 69 News and is a proud Appalachian Trail Thru-Hiker. It was during his hike that the idea of putting photographs of the woods directly onto wood was born. Didyoung spend years modifying (and often times breaking) wide-format printers to achieve his goal and began selling his works at craft shows. He dubbed this pioneering process of applying digital and photographic work directly onto wood as “Photograin Printing.” In 2017 a life-threatening injury refocused his perspective on life and allowed him enough time to immerse himself into art full-time. Didyoung is fortunate enough to win numerous awards and now has gallery representation at Art Plus Gallery in West Reading and Studio B in Boyertown. His body of work has grown to include large sculptural installations with Teleflex Medical and panoramic walls with Penn State Health. In the fall of 2021 Didyoung designed and helped to complete the large “Hope Blossoms” mural with Artist Mike Miller in downtown Reading.
